Split a PDF or extract selected pages
Use extraction when you need one shorter document. Use splitting when you need several separate documents from the same original.
Keep selected pages in one PDF
- Add your PDF and choose Split PDF.
- Choose it under Document to split.
- Select Extract pages into one PDF.
- Enter
1–5, 8to keep pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8. This creates one six-page PDF. - Use the review button, check the result, and download the selected pages.
Create separate PDFs
For a 20-page document, select Create separate PDFs and enter:
1–5; 6–10; 11–20
You will get three PDFs containing 5, 5 and 10 pages. A new line can be used instead of each semicolon. Each result has its own preview and download; you can also download the group as a ZIP file and extract it on your device.
Use the original page positions
The first page of the original file is page 1, even if the printed page number says something different. A cover and contents page count as pages. Split selections use these original positions, even if you have rearranged or removed pages in the tool's file list.
For example, if the first two pages are a cover and contents, the page printed as “1” might be the third page of the file. Enter 3 to select that page.
If a range is rejected
Use page numbers inside the document's actual length, write ranges in ascending order, and avoid repeating a page within one output. For example, 5–2 is not a valid range. In the separate-PDF mode, different groups may overlap if you intentionally need the same page in two documents.
Splitting does not apply the maximum-size setting or compress pages. Fewer pages may make a smaller file, but the size depends on what those pages contain. Check each result's size.
The original PDF is unchanged. Keep it until you have checked that every output contains the pages you intended.
